Scorpions strike fear into the hearts of many Las Vegas residents and those who live throughout Nevada due to their wide spread prevalence throughout the state.  A few areas in Las Vegas are known as the most infested areas in the city.  Many times pest professionals are called and have reported seeing scorpions on the walls and ground in these areas. Scorpions are also commonly seen under rocks, and in bushes and trees.

Top 3 Scorpion Infested areas:

  • Mountains Edge/Fort Apache
  • Hualapai
  • Spring Valley – Buffalo/Flamingo

In these highly-infested areas/neighborhoods it is not uncommon to find hundreds of scorpions during a single black light search.  If you live in these areas and have landscaping that includes water you are at an increased risk of having scorpion problems.  Scorpions can be dangerous and can inflict a painful sting if encountered.  Therefore, ProChem ProActive advises that you call in the professionals before trying to deal with the problem yourself.  ProChem ProActive will do a detailed inspection and provide a treatment plan that will ensure that the bugs are killed.  A chemical spray will likely be applied to the exterior of your home.  If the scorpions have moved indoors a heat treatment may be applied to kill all scorpions that are hiding inside the home.

Bed Bug Settlements Can Be Costly For Businesses

Imagine waking up to your child screaming and crying that there are bugs crawling on and biting him.  This nightmare has happened to countless families in their homes, or at hotels and motels.  Large bed bug settlements are being awarded to families around the country because of negligent business owners who fail to properly treat or document treatments of bed bug problems.  While we see this most commonly with hotels/motels there have been countless cases against furniture companies, moving companies and public transportation companies as well.

How To Avoid A Claim Against Your Business

In the story mentioned above, the family of the young child was awarded $225,000 in their case against the furniture company that sold them bed bug infested bed frames.  The child was taken to the pediatrician and was prescribed a few allergy medications due to the mild allergic reaction that resulted from multiple bed bug bites.  The furniture company was found guilty of negligence for not properly treating the bed bug problem.  Often, without proper documentation of regular inspections and treatments, a business can be found guilty of negligence because of lack of evidence that the problem was being treated properly.

To avoid a lawsuit like this happening at your business make sure that you follow the tips below.

  • Always perform regular inspections of your business. This is especially important for high traffic areas and hotels/motels.  Treatment and inspection schedules are available from professional bed bug elimination professionals, such as ProChem ProActive.
  • Always document any bed bug sightings, inspections, and treatments. ProChem ProActive can show you how to properly log all interactions.  In most cases, if the court can prove that you knew about a bed bug issue but didn’t react properly then you will be liable for all damages.
  • If any customers report bites or sightings – TAKE THEM SERIOUSLY! People rarely complain about bugs when there isn’t an issue.  Every sighting should be thoroughly investigated.  Long term exposure to bed bugs can cause psychological damages to the victims.  While this is devastating to the victim, it is also very damaging in any lawsuit against a business or property management company.  This is most important for apartment management companies and locations with long-term residents.

How ProChem ProActive can help:

ProChem ProActive is experienced in keeping businesses bed bug free and treating any potential problems extremely quickly.  The goal is to find any bed bug issues while they are small and BEFORE your customers notice.  Bed bugs can invade ANY business, and if they are eradicated quickly the problem can go un-noticed.  ProChem ProActive offers routine inspections and treatment schedules to fit any business.  The ProActive program also offers facilities the ability to certify the property Bed Bug Free. Termites – The Silent Destroyers

The termite’s ability to chew through wood, flooring and walls undetected gave them the name “silent destroyers”.  There are approximately 2,000 known species of termite in the world and each year they cause over 5 billion dollars in property damage for home and business owners around the world.  By familiarizing yourself with the signs of an infestation and knowing a few key tips to identify a termite issue you can prevent costly repairs.

Detection Tips:

Termite workers and younger termites are often light brown or whitish in color and do most of the “work” for the colony.  Because of their delicate soft body they can dry out easily if exposed to air and sun light.  These termites tend to stay in the nest or underground.  If they venture where you can easily spot them out you can bet there is a nest near by.

Another termite that you might see is a “swarmer”.  These termites are often miss-identified as a winged carpenter ant.  The easiest way to tell the ant and the termite apart is by looking at their body and wing shape.  A flying ant will have 3 sections to it’s body, while the termite will be more uniform in width.  You can also see a difference between the shape of their wings and antennae.  The ant has a bent antennae and two wings on each side.  The termite sports straight antennae and long straight wings as well.

Termites thrive in moist, humid, warm spaces and often construct mud tubes from the ground to their nest.  If the nest is in your home or business this can cause mold problems due to the extra humidity that these tubes allow into the wood.  Some termites even encourage mold to grow because it makes the wood softer and easier to chew.  If you spot any mud tubes or mold you should closely search the area for termite activity.

Treatment Options:

The most effective way to get rid of termites is to schedule a professional treatment.  ProChem ProActive offers a range of treatment options depending on the type of termites you have and the severity of the damage.  After a detailed inspection, the ProChem ProActive technician will offer a treatment plan and schedule the application as soon as possible.  In some cases heat treatments are an option to dry and heat the area to kill the insects without the use of chemical pesticides.  This treatment is most effective against dry wood termites and problems inside the home.

Scorpions are one of the most feared insects in the western United States.  Scorpions can deliver a painful sting that can prove to be dangerous.  Many exterminators will do a “chemical spray” to keep the scorpions from entering a home or business.  Unfortunately, this doesn’t always work and scorpions can still move inside before the poison can do its job.  At ProChem ProActive we are pros at getting rid of scorpions.  We use Thermal Elimination Technology to get rid of pests quickly and effectively.

Here are some tips to keep your home scorpion free.

Perform Routine Maintenance Year Round

Performing maintenance on your yard and home year round will greatly reduce the areas that scorpions can enter the home.  Also, by removing debris from the outside of the house it doesn’t give the bugs a comfortable hiding place.  Clean and maintain your yard, especially nearest to the home, by removing leaves, dead branches, yard clutter and grass clippings.  Also inspect your water spigots and watering systems to make sure they work properly and don’t leak.  All of these tasks will drive scorpions and other insects away from the house, and will allow for an exterminator to properly treat the home.

 Hire the Right Exterminator

At ProChem ProActive we use heat to kill bugs hiding in your home or business.  Heat kills all of the bugs that could be hiding in your walls, under the floors and in furniture.  Heat is especially effective on scorpions, bed bugs, roaches and more!   ProChem ProActive uses thermal cameras to detect where heat could be escaping from your home so that it can be sealed.  This will stop bugs from entering the home and kill any bugs trapped inside.  Thermal Elimination Technology is an extremely valuable tool that not all exterminators offer, so make sure you have a professional, experienced, and proactive exterminator like PROCHEM PROACTIVE!

Still not convinced?  Here are more facts about why HEAT is the right solution for any pest problem:

It’s Fast – Heat kills bugs the FIRST time!  Bugs are killed regardless of their size or location in the treated room or structure.  Scorpions can’t escape the heat by moving to another room, like they can with traditional treatments.  Scorpions are killed, along with any other pest living in the treated area, in just 8-12 hours!

It’s Safe – Don’t put your family in harm’s way by exposure to dangerous pesticides.  Heat is eco-friendly and won’t cause allergic reactions or breathing problems.

It’s Easy – Don’t worry about moving furniture, throwing away bug infested items or doing massive cleaning before the treatment. Heat will permeate the entire structure, and if there are any “cool spots” our thermal cameras will find them and allow the technician to correct the problem.  Heat treats every item in the room without leaving a residue, which means you don’t have to remove anything!

How Heat Can Keep You Bug Free This Year!

Because of their resistance to, or avoidance of chemical treatments, many insect infestations are hard to eliminate.  Bed Bugs, cockroaches, and scorpions are just some of the bugs that can be killed using professional heat treatments.  Heat treatments can be performed all year round and are extremely effective at eliminating pests with just one application.

 How does it work?

The science behind heat treatments is simple – bugs (especially bed bugs) are extremely susceptible to heat!  The treatment starts by sealing the infected room or structure by using tarps and Mylar.  One of the unique qualities of heat treatments is that you we can treat one room in a structure while keeping the rest of the building operational.  This is perfect for multi-unit homes and hotels/motels.  Once the room is sealed the heat is applied.  This process takes 6-8 hours to complete.  During this time the room is safely heated to 140-160 degrees.  The Prochem Proactive technicians are specially trained to administer this Thermal Pest Eradication and will monitor the treatment to ensure that the heat isn’t escaping.

Why is heat better than traditional extermination methods?

There are many reasons that heat is superior to all other extermination methods offered by pest professionals.  Here are just a few of our favorites:

  • It kills the bugs the first time!  Some less successful methods can leave certain bugs alive due to their size, age or location in the room.  With heat, all the bugs are killed regardless of their size or age.  Even the tiniest bugs are susceptible to heat and the eggs are killed before they hatch.  This stops an infestation in its tracks!  That means NO MORE REOCCURING INFECTATIONS!
  • It’s Safe!  Because of the safety of the heat treatments it makes it the best way to kill bugs.  There is no need for dangerous chemicals that can cause breathing problems, skin irritation and allergic reaction.  Prochem Proactive offers heat treatments because they are safer and healthier for their customers, as well as good for the environment.
  • It’s FAST!  To complete a heat treatment can take 6-8 hours from start to finish. Most chemical treatments need to be applied multiple times, taking months in some cases.  This is especially true with bed bug infestations.  Because chemical treatments don’t kill all of the bugs hiding in furniture or walls, the infestation can continue to thrive even after a chemical treatment has been applied.  This not only prolongs the life of the infestation, it also costs money to keep repeating the same treatment over and over again.

In conclusion, bugs don’t stand a chance with Prochem Proactive’s Thermal Heat Eradication Treatments!  If you have a pest infestation, including (but not limited to), bed bugs, German cockroaches, or scorpions call us today!  We will inspect your home or business to find where the bugs are at and come up with a solid treatment plan that will ensure that all of the bugs have been eliminated.  At Prochem Proactive we provide a 100% Guaranteed Pest Elimination Service.
